Patient bread,
warm coffee,
kind mornings.
A small neighborhood bakery on Carlos Bee Blvd, where the sourdough rests for thirty-six hours and the espresso is pulled with care. Pop in for a loaf, a buttery croissant, or sit a while.
A short menu, baked patiently
We keep things small on purpose. Everything you see is made the same morning, by the same six pairs of hands, with flour we mill in-house from California grains.
Naturally leavened breads
Country sourdough, seeded rye, baguette and rosemary focaccia — fermented 36 hours for deeper flavor and easier digestion.

In the spring of 2018, Leilani Josef was feeding a sourdough starter on her windowsill and giving loaves to neighbors. By the end of that year, the loaves had outgrown the windowsill, and Masoomeen Bakery opened a small storefront a few blocks from CSU East Bay.
Eight years later, we still bake the same way: slowly, with whole grains we mill ourselves, in a single oven we know by name. We think bread is worth waiting for. We hope you do too.
Read the long versionKind words from the regulars
"The country loaf has ruined every other bakery for me. The crust shatters, the crumb is custardy — and the staff actually remember my dog's name."
"We had Leilani make our wedding cake — three tiers of olive-oil sponge with citrus curd. Six months later guests are still texting me about it."
"I drive in from San Leandro on Saturdays just for the kouign-amann and a flat white. It's the calmest hour of my week."
